What's This All About Then?
Fuel goes in tank, gets pumped to engine, engine goes vroom. Simple right? Except there's a filter, a pump, injectors, a pressure regulator, and about fifty ways for it to go wrong. Clogged injectors cause misfires. Dead fuel pumps cause breakdowns. Wrong fuel causes... well, panic mostly. We diagnose and repair fuel system issues including pump replacement, injector cleaning/replacement, fuel filter changes, and yes - wrong fuel drainage. Whether you've put petrol in a diesel or just have a fuel-related fault code, we'll sort it.

How it works
Fuel sits in the tank until a pump — usually electric and often inside the tank itself — pushes it forward under pressure. On the way it passes through a filter that traps grit and water so nothing damages the fine parts downstream. The fuel then reaches the injectors: precision nozzles that spray a fine, metered mist into the engine at exactly the right instant, controlled by the engine's computer. Get the pressure, timing and spray pattern right and the engine runs smoothly and economically. A weak pump, a clogged filter, or dirty injectors upsets that balance — you get misfires, hesitation, hard starting or lost power. Diesel and petrol systems differ in detail, but the principle is the same: clean fuel, correct pressure, precise delivery.
Warning signs to watch for
- •Hard starting or the engine cranking for a while before it catches — often a weak fuel pump or pressure problem
- •Misfires, hesitation or a stutter under acceleration — commonly dirty or failing injectors
- •Loss of power, especially under load or uphill — a clogged filter or struggling pump starving the engine
- •Worse fuel economy than usual — injectors or sensors not metering fuel correctly
- •Cutting out or stalling, particularly at speed — a failing pump that can't keep up
- •The engine warning light with rough running — a fuel-delivery or sensor fault worth reading the codes for

What we do
We read fault codes, check fuel pressure, and work out whether it's the pump, filter, injectors or a sensor — rather than guessing. We replace clogged filters, failing pumps and faulty injectors, and for misfuels we can drain and flush the wrong fuel out and get you running again. You get a clear quote before any work. Because we're mobile, most of it happens at your home, work, or wherever you've broken down.
Fuel System Service — FAQs
I put the wrong fuel in my car — what now?
Do not start the engine, and ideally don't even switch on the ignition — that can pull the wrong fuel through the system. Petrol in a diesel is the more serious mix. Leave the car where it is and call us: we can come to you, drain the tank and flush the fuel lines, then refill with the correct fuel. Caught before you drive off, it's usually a straightforward, damage-free fix.
How often should I change the fuel filter?
It depends on the car and fuel type — check your service schedule, as intervals vary. Diesels in particular rely on their filter to trap water and grit, so a clogged one causes power loss and hard starting. If your engine is losing power under load, hesitating or hard to start, a blocked filter is a common and relatively cheap culprit worth checking early before it strains the pump.
Can dirty injectors really cause misfires?
Yes. Injectors have to spray a precise, fine mist at exactly the right moment. When they get gummed up or partially blocked, the spray pattern and quantity go wrong, so a cylinder gets too little or poorly atomised fuel — and that shows up as misfires, rough idling, hesitation and worse economy. We can diagnose which cylinder is affected and clean or replace the injector as needed.
