How it works

Servicing comes in two tiers. An interim service (roughly every 6 months or 6,000 miles) covers engine oil, oil filter, and a safety inspection of brakes, tyres, lights, steering and fluid levels — ideal for high-mileage drivers. A full service (typically every 12 months or 12,000 miles) adds the air filter, fuel filter where fitted, cabin/pollen filter, spark plugs on the correct interval, plus a deeper check of suspension, exhaust, drivebelts, cooling system and battery. Always check your handbook — modern long-life oils and variable service indicators mean intervals differ by make. We use oil to your manufacturer's spec, reset the service light, and stamp the book so your warranty and history stay intact.

Warning signs to watch for

  • Your service light or spanner symbol is showing on the dash
  • It's been over a year (or your mileage interval) since the last service
  • Oil looks black and gritty, or is low on the dipstick
  • Fuel economy has crept up and the engine feels less eager
  • You're about to sell and want a fresh stamp in the book
  • You bought the car recently with unknown or patchy history

Common causes

Engine oil and oil filter replaced with the correct manufacturer-spec oil
Air, fuel and cabin/pollen filters checked and renewed as due
Brakes inspected — pads, discs, lines and handbrake operation
Tyres checked for tread depth, pressure and uneven wear
All fluids topped: coolant, brake, screenwash, power steering
Battery health, drivebelts, exhaust, lights and wipers assessed

What we do

We service to your manufacturer's schedule, not a generic checklist — the right oil, the right filters, the right intervals for your car. You get an itemised report of what we found, what's fine and what's coming up, so there are no surprises. The service light gets reset and the book stamped. All done where you're parked — home or work — no garage drop-off, no waiting room.

Car Servicing — FAQs

What's the difference between an interim and a full service?

An interim service is a lighter, more frequent check (about every 6 months) focused on oil, oil filter and core safety items. A full service is annual and far more thorough, adding air, fuel and cabin filters, spark plugs on schedule, and deeper inspection of suspension, cooling and drivebelts. Most drivers do one full service a year.

Does a service count as an MOT?

No — they're separate. An MOT is a legal roadworthiness test carried out at an approved test centre. A service is voluntary maintenance that keeps the car healthy. A well-serviced car is far more likely to sail through its MOT, but the service itself doesn't produce a certificate.

Will servicing with a mobile mechanic void my warranty?

No. Block Exemption rules mean an independent can service your car without affecting the manufacturer warranty, provided we use parts of matching quality and the correct oil spec, and stamp the service book. We keep a full record so your history stays intact for warranty and resale.

Random Knowledge You Didn't Ask For

Oil breaks down over time even if you don't drive. Your car ages like milk, not wine.

A clogged air filter can reduce fuel economy by 10%. That's basically free money you're burning.
