Mobile ECU remapping

Vauxhall Astra,
woken right up.

The Astra's the everyman hero that quietly does everything, and whether you've got the CDTi diesel or a punchy turbo petrol, there's more in there than Vauxhall admitted to. We come to you with proper dealer-level tools, wake it up, and save your original file so it's completely reversible — no drama, no dodgy laptops.

Estimated peak gain across Astra engines. Your car's figures depend on spec, year, fuel & condition — we quote honest numbers, never fantasy dyno bragging.

So, what's in it for your Astra?

Vauxhall builds the Astra detuned like everyone else — one safe ECU map stretched across every engine, climate and owner who thinks a service is optional. So whether you've got the 1.6 CDTi diesel, a 1.4/1.6 turbo petrol or the full-fat VXR, there's performance in there the factory settings simply won't let out.

A remap changes that to suit whatever you're driving. The CDTi diesel gets a generous helping of mid-range torque — easier overtakes, less gear-stirring, and potentially better MPG when you're not flooring it to keep up. The turbo petrols and the VXR get the proper treatment: crisper response, stronger pull and pace that actually feels worth the badge. We do it all on your drive, plugging genuine dealer-level tools into a stable power supply so nothing gets corrupted halfway through.

Your original map is saved before we touch it, so it's fully reversible if you ever want factory back. DPF, EGR and AdBlue are left intact and road-legal — no dodgy deletes here. What you'll actually gain depends on year, spec, fuel and the state of the engine, so we'll give you an honest estimate rather than a number plucked out of thin air.

The numbers (the fun part)

Standard vs remapped, per engine. Bars are scaled to peak bhp — the red is what you've been missing.

1.6 CDTi diesel (110 PS)

+35 bhp+60 Nm
Standard≈ 110 bhp / 300 Nm
Stage 1 (est.)≈ 135–145 bhp / ≈ 340–360 Nm

1.6 CDTi diesel (136 PS)

+34 bhp+70 Nm
Standard≈ 136 bhp / 320 Nm
Stage 1 (est.)≈ 160–170 bhp / ≈ 370–390 Nm

1.4 Turbo petrol (150 PS)

+35 bhp+75 Nm
Standard≈ 150 bhp / 245 Nm
Stage 1 (est.)≈ 175–185 bhp / ≈ 300–320 Nm

1.6 Turbo petrol (200 PS)

+35 bhp+70 Nm
Standard≈ 200 bhp / 300 Nm
Stage 1 (est.)≈ 225–235 bhp / ≈ 350–370 Nm

2.0 Turbo VXR (280 PS)

+80 bhp+110 Nm
Standard≈ 280 bhp / 400 Nm
Stage 2 (est.)≈ 340–360 bhp / ≈ 480–510 Nm

Stage 1: ≈ 310–330 bhp / ≈ 440–470 Nm · Stage 2 shown (needs supporting hardware)

Typical estimates for a healthy vehicle. Stage 2 needs supporting hardware (intake/exhaust/intercooler) — we'll only suggest it if your car's up for it.

The small print (yeah, yeah): always tell your insurer about a remap — it's a mod, and "forgetting" can sink a claim. If your Astra is still under manufacturer warranty, a remap can affect powertrain cover, so weigh it up first. We keep your original file backed up either way.

Questions you're about to ask

Will a remap improve my 1.6 CDTi's MPG?

It can — with the usual honest caveat. The diesel gains torque lower in the rev range, so you tend to work the engine less for the same journey, which can help economy on steady and motorway driving. Use the extra performance instead and you'll see that rather than better MPG. Real-world figures depend on how and where you drive.

Is the turbo petrol (or VXR) worth mapping?

Definitely. The 1.4T and 1.6T petrols pick up sharper throttle and a stronger mid-range from a Stage 1, and the 2.0T VXR responds particularly well — it's a genuinely quicker, more entertaining car afterwards. The VXR can also go to Stage 2 if you've fitted supporting hardware like an uprated exhaust or intake.

Do I need to declare it to my insurer?

Yes — always tell your insurer about a remap. Any engine tune is a modification that can affect your policy, so declaring it keeps you properly covered. It's a quick job to sort before we book you in.

Does the diesel map keep the DPF and EGR working?

Yes — our economy and torque maps are designed to keep the DPF, EGR and (where fitted) AdBlue systems intact and doing their job. We optimise the standard emissions setup rather than deleting it, so your Astra stays MOT-legal and road-legal.

Can the remap be reversed later?

Every time. We back up your car's original factory file before making changes, so we can restore it to full stock whenever you need — for warranty work, a dealer visit or selling the car on.
