Land Rover TDV6 / SDV6,
woken right up.

Posh, capable and just a touch lazy from the factory — the TDV6 and SDV6 have proper towing muscle in them that Solihull never quite let out. We'll come to your driveway with dealer-level tools, sharpen up the driveability and pulling power, and keep your original file safely backed up, because reversible is very much the civilised option.

Estimated peak gain across TDV6 / SDV6 engines. Your car's figures depend on spec, year, fuel & condition — we quote honest numbers, never fantasy dyno bragging.

So, what's in it for your TDV6 / SDV6?

Here's the bit the brochure skips: your TDV6 or SDV6 left the factory deliberately holding back. Land Rover builds one engine for the whole planet — dodgy fuel, thin mountain air, owners who never service the thing — so they detune it and leave a chunk of headroom sitting on the table. We put it back where it belongs.

On a big diesel Range Rover, Sport or Discovery, that headroom shows up as fat, low-down mid-range torque exactly where you want it: pulling away, overtaking without a running start, and dragging a loaded trailer up a hill like it forgot the trailer was there. Some owners see a nudge in MPG too, because you're feathering the throttle instead of flooring it. We map with the ZF8 auto and the drivetrain in mind — this is a lot of torque, so we build in sensible margins rather than chasing a big number for the sake of it. It's not shy, but it won't shred your gearbox for a bragging screenshot either.

We come to you — driveway, office car park, wherever the thing lives — with genuine dealer-level tools running off a stable power supply, so nothing gets corrupted mid-flash. Your original file is backed up first, so the whole lot is fully reversible. DPF, EGR and AdBlue stay exactly where they are: intact, working, road-legal, MOT-friendly. Gains vary with year, spec, fuel and general condition, so we give you an honest estimate for YOUR truck — not a fantasy dyno figure off someone else's.

The numbers (the fun part)

Standard vs remapped, per engine. Bars are scaled to peak bhp — the red is what you've been missing.

3.0 TDV6 (single turbo)

+49 bhp+100 Nm
Standard≈ 190–211 bhp / ≈ 440–520 Nm
Stage 1 (est.)≈ 240–260 bhp / ≈ 580–620 Nm

3.0 SDV6 (twin turbo)

+34 bhp+50 Nm
Standard≈ 245–306 bhp / ≈ 600–700 Nm
Stage 1 (est.)≈ 290–340 bhp / ≈ 680–750 Nm

Typical estimates for a healthy vehicle. Stage 2 needs supporting hardware (intake/exhaust/intercooler) — we'll only suggest it if your car's up for it.

What's in the box

Full read & backup of your original file
Custom map loaded on a stabilised power supply
Genuine dealer-level tooling via the OBD port
Economy or performance flavour — your call
Emissions kit (DPF/EGR/AdBlue) left intact
Fully reversible — back to stock any time

The small print (yeah, yeah): always tell your insurer about a remap — it's a mod, and "forgetting" can sink a claim. If your TDV6 / SDV6 is still under manufacturer warranty, a remap can affect powertrain cover, so weigh it up first. We keep your original file backed up either way.

Questions you're about to ask

What's the biggest benefit of remapping a TDV6 or SDV6?

Honestly, it's driveability rather than bragging-rights power. The factory maps are cautious, so the standard car can feel like it's holding its breath. A Stage 1 remap fills in the mid-range, calms the gearbox down so it stops hunting, and makes the car feel effortless — especially when it's loaded or towing. It's the single best-value change you can make to how these engines feel day to day.

Is it good for towing?

Very. A caravan, horsebox or big trailer is exactly where the extra low-and-mid-range torque earns its keep — steadier pulling up hills, less kickdown and a more relaxed, controlled tow. It's one of the most common reasons owners come to us.

Will the extra torque stress the gearbox or drivetrain?

The ZF eight-speed auto is a strong unit and copes well with sensible Stage 1 torque, but these are already high-torque engines, so we're mindful not to overcook it. We write the map to keep the torque usable and within safe limits rather than chasing a big headline number. If there's an existing weakness in the driveline, big torque will find it — we'll flag anything we're not happy with before starting.

Do you come to me?

Yes. We tune at your home or workplace with genuine dealer-level tools and a stable power supply — no need to drop your Range Rover or Discovery at a unit and wait around. Most cars are done in about an hour on your driveway.

Do I have to declare it to my insurer, and what about emissions?

Yes — a remap is a modification and must be declared to your insurer to keep you fully covered; it's normally a quick, low-cost update to the policy. On emissions, our economy and performance maps are written to keep the DPF, EGR and AdBlue systems fully intact and working. We don't remove emissions equipment on road cars.
